The Dalton Trust is striving to restore and protect the indigenous vegetation and wildlife of the area and initiate social and environmental programmes for the development of local community and a thriving environment. This includes removing alien timber from the Dalton Private Reserve and training staff in the woodworking workshop to turn this resource into a range of furniture.

Koop designed all the infrastructural and residential buildings on the Dalton Private Reserve, including the luxury accommodation that is the Dalton House. Many of the buildings are furnished with pieces
designed by Koop themselves. A natural affiliation with the ethos of the Trust has resulted in a partnership where Koop furniture designs are now being manufactured by Dalton.

The Koop-Dalton range is an exploration in combining finesse with raw and rustic. The range is made from invader species including red gum and poplar, and sealed with natural oil product. The timber is planked in the forest where it is felled, cured in a solar kiln developed by the Trust and machined and assembled in a workshop staffed from the local community.
The rural setting necessitates basic mechanical processes, using natural resources and making things by hand. The work is labour intensive and the pieces intentionally appear rough hewn and handcrafted.

The Koop-Dalton range marries the refined aesthetic of the design with the character and story of the locale in which it was made.
